I have most if not all the Smith wheelguns that I've wanted. Now I am on the hunt for the next grail gun. It will be the model 632-1 PowerPortPro 327 Federal Magnum.

I have no idea how many were made. They are not listed in SCSW so they must be a recent production run.

Could they still be available? That would make it easy. In fact it looks like it might be the case. Cool

I will call my local FFL when he opens up. It would be nice if I could order it through him.

So why would I want a wheel gun in a fairly difficult to find and expensive caliber? This Smith disease doesn't make sense does it. It just creeps in there, gets under your skin. eh?

Does anyone have one?

I'd like to hear your experience. I wish I could find one to try out. What is the likelihood of finding one to shoot? Pretty slim.

They are discontinued. Not amny were made. They pop up on Gunbroker from time to time for $1200+.

Chances of finding one to try out...Zero

I bought the Dillon reloading dies so I could afford to shoot this J frame.

Nope, no longer made. I have one and it's amazing. Very versatile. If you can find one for under a grand, snap it up. There aren't many out there.

The following is a cut-n-paste history of the M632. Provided for general interest. Something I found on the web a while back. Not from the SCSW....

"Model 632 Magnum Centennial Airweight Stainless was a small-production-run version of the Model 32, produced from 1991-92, and was the first version of the Model 32 produced after the original Model 32’s production ended. Despite the name, the frame is in fact of light alloy, though it has a faux matte stainless finish. Most of the other parts are in fact stainless steel, including the cylinder and barrel.

Model 632 uses a wide combat trigger and a fully concealed hammer. Model 632 was produced in 2-inch-barrel and 3-inch-barrel versions, though the 3-inch barrel was dropped from production shortly before production of the Model 632 ended (though both versions remained in Smith & Wesson’s catalog until 1993). The 2-inch-barrel version had smooth walnut grips, while the 3-inch-barrel version was made with Uncle Mike’s Santoprene grips. The sights consists of a fixed notch rear and a serrated ramp front.

In approximately 2009 (I have not yet been able to determine the exact year of introduction), Smith & Wesson put a version of the Model 632 on the market chambered for .327 Federal (a small-caliber magnum round). Two iterations of this version of the Model 632 are available: the Model 632-1, which has a 2.125-inch full-lug barrel, fixed front and rear sights (with the rear notch being tritium-lined and the front having a tritium inlay for night use), but most other construction details similar to the original Model 632.

The Model 632-2 PowerPort is almost a different animal; it has a 3-inch full-lug ported barrel, sights consisting of a high serrated and pinned front ramp and a micrometer-adjustable rear, and a small, flat, exposed hammer. Both of these iterations have Uncle Mike’s rubber grips, though of different types for each, and both may be finished in satin stainless or blued. In addition, unlike the rest of the Model 32 series, the Model 632-1 and 632-2 are made of all stainless steel (except for the grips)."

I haven't seen a 632-1 with fixed sights and 2.125 barrel which doesn't mean they don't exist. I do have though two 632-1s which are stainless steel both with adjustable sights and 3 inch barrels (both with ILs).

Good choice for a grail gun, I wish I would have bought more of them when I had the chance. Must have been a weak seller though so they were discontinued. Those of us here who have one really like them as they are very versatile and you can fire just about any 32 load it one.
This is why I bought 2 Ruger Single Sevens just in case they suffer the same fate as the 632s. I love the 327 Magnum.

That's an interesting phenominum that occurs all to often. They bring out a new model and due to weak sales it's discontinued. Shortly thereafter everyone wants one and the prices shoot up. I wish I had the answer.

Let's see, you put out a gun and give it virtually no publicity. People don't even hear of its existence. A year or so later you pull the plug on production and sales due to lack of sales. Does that pretty much sum it up? I can't explain the reasoning behind this "sales strategy" either.

Glad I got mine while they were still available. I only wanted one of each but when I found the 2 stainless finish ones with consecutive (....32 & ....33) serial numbers I ended up with 2 stainless finish, 1 black and 1 632-2.

So, the -1 was the comped 3-inch c.2009 Pro Shop gun with plain adjustable sights and exposed hammer.

The -2 was the 2 1/8-inch non-comped gun in Centennial form from the Pro Shop c.2011 with the little dovetailed Novak-like two-dot rear sight and the big dot dovetailed front, both with tritium inserts.

Correct, only all 3 dots on my sights are the same size. The -2 also has a fluted barrel, the bottom left one in my pic above.

OK, MrTrolleyguy. 632-1. If I find one out here in CT, I will let you know immediately.
I have a knack for finding things people are looking for.
It's the quest! It's fun. :D

Hold up! It is my grail gun but I'd be hard pressed to come up with the money right now.

Had a couple, three sales fall through so the gun fund is nearly empty.

I am thinking that after the first of the year I'll most likely be back in the game.

Thanks just the same.

Will do, Sir. Quest postponed... Will be awaiting orders for resumption of search in January.
