I just got this model 60-4 from a really great forum member. He included an extra cylinder that has been converted to handle both 9mm and .38 special by TK Custom out of Illinois. After I got the revolver, I installed a set of these rare S&W "J" frame target grips.
Went out to the range yesterday and shot both 9mm and .38 Special. Got some very nice groups at 15 yards with both rounds. Also I shot five .38 shells out of the converted cylinder with no problems or use of a special clip. TK Custom designs their conversion that way so you can actually use just one cylinder for both rounds. You have to use the clip with the 9mm ammo. With the .38 Spec. ammo you can use the cylinder without a special clip for the .38 cases or you can use a special clip of their design for the .38 ammo. Either way, which is a really nice feature.
I have had this 60-15 for several years. This 60-4 will make a great companion piece.
Here are some shots of the 60-4 along with a photo of the converted cylinder. The stock .38 cylinder is on the gun in these photos.
These revolvers came with some type of rubber Hogue or Pachmayr grips. I shot 12 rounds with the rubber grips, then switched with the S&W grips that were stock on the 60-15. The wood grips were very comfortable so when I got home, I installed this nice set of target grips. I think they really stand out on the gun.
Let me know what your think.
