My revolver purchase was delayed today?

A couple people in line ahead of me were delayed, workers said it was probably a FED.GOV issue. I walked up, they did their thing, got "approved" and walked out with a gun.

"approved" is a disgusting thought in this context.

Now working in a gun shop part time I have seen many delays from NIC. Most are eventually ok'ed. If no word from NIC in five working days you may make delivery....Common names and those who choose not to fill out the SS number seem to be more apt to be delayed.

I never fill out the SSN, the guy yesterday asked if I forgot to fill it out. I said "it's optional, my option is to not give out unnecessary information".

I figure if they want your SSN they can find it. 4473's stay with the FFL holder what .. is it 10 or 20 years. In the mean time who has access to that info.

Here in VA the SP, using civilian employees, approves the purchase. I was delayed a couple of hours once or twice for unknown reasons. Handing over the CHP along with the DL and providing the SSN on the form usually helps speed up the process but on busy days with a couple of gun shows going on or just an employee having a bad day can be the reason for a holdup. I don't take it personally.
