Well one month ago moved my son to Ny ,dam what a place. Sorry if you happen to like this kind of place but its not for me.I wish there was some legal way my son could just keep a gun in his apart. but hell you have no rights in that city.I raised my son in the country in a town of 3500 people where 80% of us either hunt just shoot or both.Wow what a different way of life.Is it even legel to keep a double bar. shotgun in the city? If not what is legal for self defense is? If anyone can help please let me know. Thanks all from a worried Ohio dad!

I find Astoria an interesting place.A real melting pot, close to Manhattan. If he's not into Egyptian,Spanish,Greek culture,etc.etc.,he can always find comradery in an Irish Pub.(I don't live there but go occaisonally on biz)I don't think of it as a dangerous area.
If he's qualified, he can wait a year for a non carry PL.He can legally buy rifles and shotguns. They are supposed to be registered in NYC limits, but many city folks run out to neighboring counties and buy them with nothing more than the standard background check,Form 4473, and a NY driver's license.

Yea, I agree... Its not for me either. Just came back from an RSD fund raiser/awareness event and took some time to go into the city. Was lucky enough to witness some crazy things... parades etc... Its just too much there for me... I hate constantly looking over my shoulder.

You can get what you want as far as firearms go, but you have to get a permit and register them all, including long arms.

So then its not ok to take hime one of my shotguns for a house gun at anytime and if I do how the heck do I transport it legally through the New York.
