My stupid state...

Rwanda banned these plastic planet killers years ago. It's time that America started following such global leadership!

As a testament to a future society with no plastic bags... Next time we're in California I think I'll take Pugsters for her morning walk around the LA City Council building.

California provides "free" doggie-poo bags in parks (at least Orange County does). However, they're plastic -- there's an opportunity right there for the fruitcakes.

Also very handy if you clean up after your dog.

That always struck me as strange too. Putting Bio-Degradable Poop into a Non Bio-degradeable bag?

Most likely dreamed up by people that think all the animals in the wild hold hands, dance and sing "the Lion Sleeps tonight"

Not really strange, I live in a subdivision and I doubt my neighbors would appreciate "gifts" left in their yard. I don't think a paper bag would be very dog walk friendly.

So it's OK if I leave my dogs' "gifts" on your lawn, the sidewalk in front of your store, whatever?

After due consideration... I am puzzled why there's so much fuss about these plastic bags not being biodegradable.

When oil or natural gas is discovered in the ground, is there a big rush to get it out before biodegradation occurs? I mean, how many gazillion years would it take for the oil at ANWR to all 'biodegrade'? So... why can't we just pump the oil out and shove the used bags back in? :p

If you leave it in a biodegradable bag it's ok.

I could be wrong but I believe the poo bags in the dispensers you find at parks, etc are biodegradable. I always grab an extra or two when I find them.

Both my dogs have the "Bags on Board" dispensers clipped to their leads but those rolls of little blue bags are kinda pricey. I always have a couple or three of the free ones in my pcket & use the blue ones for emergencies.

Funny how quickly a thread on Kalifornistan's insanity turned to dog poo. Kinda appropriate if ya ask me...;)

I saw a clip of the show "Bait Car" yesterday. They said in LA County one million dollars worth of cars are stolen every day.
That's right - $1,000,000.
Thank God they banned these plastic bags. It's nice to see that they have their priorities in order.

Have a solution? California will come up with two problems to counter it.
It's the same here in New York State. AKA - California's ugly little sister.

BIG WOW - In LA that's like 3 cars.
Around here it's like 1,660 cars.

You ever have to go around your estate's wrought iron fence picking up the plastic bags that the litterers just toss?
OOPS - Sorry - Ask Juan about it and he'll tell you There Needs TO Be A Law!

I use plastic bags from the newspaper and store for picking up the dog poo when I take my two out walking. Of course, I could do like many around my neighborhood and just leave it. I don't consider that the best use for them but I don't want to contribute to the filth that winds up in the CHesapeake Bay.

For shopping, my wife made me a couple of "manly" shopping bags made with cloth that has pictures of fishing gear on it. They make a real fashion statement. They get washed regularly. I prefer them to plastic because they don't burst open when heavily loaded.

I believe there has been some effort to get them banned on the Outer Banks of NC because they were getting into the ocean and littering the beach. I don't fault people for trying to keep the garbage load down and if getting rid of plastic bags means a little inconvience then its not a big deal.

At our Hixon dog park, there's a container where folks bring extra plastic grocery bags and leave them. We're a self-suffcient bunch here, not requiring govt guidance and supplies to deal with such complexities in life. :D

I see that comedic irony is a bit much for this group. I'll stick to knock-knock jokes in the future. ;):D
