My transitional 66

Are you sure the serial block for 9K runs as late as '78. I got my 66 in the fall of '78 and it was a 39K. It also had football grips.

I love pristine (or nearly so) 66s. I got this one off the internet, a 66-1 that was advertised as NIB. Roy verified its vintage as May of 1978. I rarely do this, but I really wanted one that I could be especially proud of. It turned out to be so. I had Nelson Ford do his action magic on it first, and then fired a cylinder-full to sight it in at 25 yards. In my opinion, it's as perfect a revolver as can be.

I have other 66s that I shoot for fun, but this one is the QUEEN and she sits in the vault ready to go if necessary, but mostly there for pride of ownership. One of my most treasured guns, for sure.

"This is the only gun that I own that I will probably never shoot. My M520"

I would at least put 3 rounds through it in the same chambers as the factory proof test ones, I could never own that with out at least a proof of proof test firing ;< ) I would need to know it functions properly.
