With all my fine guns I have, these two are what I will carry most often. Up here in Washington State it is more cool to cold and cloudy to rainy to give me comfort in my concealed carry.

Practice practice practice, reload reload reload... carry only the best modern factory loads.

So again what are your carry options?

The Defender is, IHO, easier to carry and reload, that said, I put my Commander in the gun safe after many faithful years and started carrying my 19-4 snub. It has been my constant companion for the last 7-8 years now. All seasons... all weather... all the time.

My only carry is a M640-3 with a three finger Pacmar rubber grips loaded with Hormany 125gr .357 magnum Critical Defense with a Clip Draw. I carry it daily and I love it

Except for my 686 being a 6 shot, I have both of those in my EDC rotation. Great choices. Who makes those grips on the 686? Real nice.

Either would be fine - choose which works for you. They are different enough I would settle on one or the other. Me - 2.5" 19.

I never could pic just One. I do the rotation thing.

All day every day. No need for multiple options to confuse the heck out of you when you need it most. I have less than $350 total in all three items including the not-pictured night sights and it always goes bang. She may be ugly but she has yet to fail me.

I may be replacing the 17 if I can find a gen 2 19 for a decent price

The wife and I have bodyguard .380s and we're picking up our shield 9s tomorrow (we both have our own of each). Once my CCL is approved, I'll be carrying one of each of these, or maybe both with an ankle holster.
