About a week and a half ago my wife and I went shooting. She doesn't shoot often. I was shooting my M10-7 snubbie and she shot her Beretta Bobcat 22. I've been trying to get her to carry a larger caliber but while she has fired larger guns, she just preferred the little Beretta. Suddenly she pointed at the K frame and said "Can I try that one?" Of course I handed it to her. By the time she was done "trying it out" she had fired up 50 rounds. She laid it on the bench and slid the Beretta over to me and said "Here, you can have this one. I'll carry the Smith."

Thoughts of divorce went through my mind before I sighed and resigned myself to the inevitable. My birthday came around last Monday and when she gave me my card she told me that she had bought me a present but it was on order and I would have to wait till it came in. It came in Friday. It's a brand spanking new Smith Model 40!

It's one of the "Classic" models. She said it was the only new Smith she could find without the IL. I think I'll hang onto her a while longer.

I'm all chocked up...beautiful 40! I've only been married a couple of years..please, teach me your secrets! How do I get my wife to buy me guns!

It would be nice if mine was interested in guns enough to want one of the ones I have. She isn't and has never given me a gun for a birthday present since we have been

You are very lucky. I would like it if mine bought me that sort of thing for my birthday this month. There is 0% chance of that...

A Realy Good Woman is Hard to Come Bye!!
A Good 10-7 K Frame can be had if one looks around a bit.
Nice M40-1
Happy Birthday Paul

I lost a 36 the same way. It cost me a 642 and a Seecamp to get it back!

I know what you mean....

Back at the end of July, I bought three guns in two days. (After having gotten a new Beretta in June.) A New Model 642 Airlite, a Model 36 from the late 80s, and an LCP. I was dreading the "Honey, I bought..." admission of guilt.

I told her the 642 was for her and that it was "idiot proof". "Afterall, Hon... You need to have something to carry with your new permit."

She said, "OK, give me 'Smitty'..." I do so... She opened the cylinder and checked the loads, smiled, then I have not seen the little guy since.... (Although she only found out about the LCP yesterday.)

Now, I have have been jonesing for a no lock 642.....

Man!!! I hate you!!!! you lucky dog, I wish my wife would buy me a S&W revolver for my B-day...Congrats on the great wife and awsome J frame...

My wife has "taken" two model 60's from me. The last one had a bobbed hammer, polished trigger, and a nice set of Eagles on it. It was one of my favorites, but no longer.

She's a keeper though, I'll get her any gun she wants.

Get used to it! Anything that feels good she takes...the upside we all know she's well armed! Go with the flow and be happy!

Hey you lucky married gun slingers with wives that buy you guns for your birthday or XMAS. My sweetie after 42 years has yet to buy me a gun of any kind, but God love her she's never tried to tell me "no" to buying a new gun even though like fishing gear or tools she doesn't understand why I want or need so many either.

She does however like shooting the little Walther P22, PPK 22lr or the new little S&W 317 w/CT.
My son and daughter have surprised their dad with a new gun a time or two and surprisingly with their mom's help. A few years ago they surprised me with a new Springfield EMP and then they both got me a new Springfield SS 1911 TRP for XMAS last year and to top it off they came up with the little 317 for my birthday this past August.
I thank God for giving me such a wonderful loving family every of my life.
Regards,
JimK

Awesome j frame! I've got one just like it; wife didn't buy it for me, but she DID encourage me to buy it at a first rate price. My credit card really couldn't stand it, but I just couldn't stand to do without it.

Thanks for all the kind words y'all. She's definitely the best thing that ever happened to me. I'll get "visitation rights" with the 10-7, she's really good to me that way. I get to inspect, lube, reload the ammo and clean up after a trip to the range.

I am really happy that she's not depending on a .22 for protection anymore, and one with no extractor at that!

And I know for a fact that if she needs it, the 10-7 will do it's job. In my mind it's just hard to beat a well maintained S&W revolver for simplicity and dependability, especially for someone who doesn't shoot regularly.

I'm going to try to get to the range with the 40-1 one day this week. They're calling for rain pretty much all week though. I've already put a Tyler-T Grip on it and it's all lubed up and ready for a good test session.
