N Frame Grip Prices - What’s going on here???

Mbdorfer.... I hate to rain on your parade, but those are probably a prime example why the older factory made S&W grips are starting to command the prices they are garnering. The newer ones just don't look like the original S&W grips no matter how hard the current maker tries to make them.

The target grips mentioned in this post were made in house by S&W, the checkering and borders are cut, and except for the extractor relief "football" cuts or speed loader "half moon" cutouts, they are basically the same style that have been on S&W revolvers for decades.

The grips like the ones you purchased are not made by S&W, but made for S&W by Altamont. The checkering and bordering is imbossed/pressed in (not cut), and the tops are a different shape and style.

You paid a fair price for them... but they just aren't in the same class as the original grips that were made at the S&W factory.
Nah, you didn't rain on my parade. I'm new to all this and just wanted to find some decent wood grips for my 28-2.
The only thing available on the SW site were a similar pair in dark walnut for $75.90.
So I still feel like I did OK?
After all, It's not like I'm restoring a '61 Vette!

MY luck ,I'd put the same pair up for auction , starting at 9.99 and get $10.99!

There's just no accounting for taste , and intelligence these days.

The computer age is here, and we'd better move along with it , , or get left in the dust.

What wood there is in the box stays. Abd that's all I have to say about that

It all goes in cycles. When the handful of bidders that recently decided to start collecting N grips have had their fill the prices will go down again. I've seen it happen with other collectibles.
