I bought a 28 with these target grips on it. I know wrong grips but I thought they looked pretty nice. I liked the transition of the colors in the wood grain. Ok so question.

Real S&W grips or knock off?

They have a 9 stamp on the inside of the grip.

Thanks

Four or six inch barrel? S&W N frames and Goncalo Alves Targets. Life is good.

A local stocking Smith dealer here, back in the 70/80s timeframe had a spinning rack of all kinds of carded parts and grips. Bought more than one set myself off it. Seems most guys I knew with 28s bought a set of those. Totally beautimous grips.

I had a 28-2 a few years ago that was 99% gun, not sure if it had been fired. It had S&W factory Targets and was in presentation case. Bought it
off heir who said his dad ordered it that way. Had tools and docs too. I never had occasion to check that out.

My Dad picked up these targets in the 60's. He had them on an old Model 10. He gave me them. I figured that weren't correct for a N frame, so put them on my 28 no dash from 1960. They are marked on the back NT 357. Bob

Nice Highway Patrolman, OP!… er, stocks!
Now, show us the rest of it! ;)

My example shipped in July, 1980 and may have shipped with the stocks shown.
It takes a historical letter to be certain, as others have pointed out.
(I haven't lettered this one.) :)
