Navy Victory???

Was in a pawn shop today and found a "US Navy" marked Victory pistol. I know that it is hard to tell for certain without a factory letter, but could SN V46868 be a Navy pistol?

If it is marked on the top strap, then I would guess it is a NAVY. If it is maked on the left side of the frame, then it could be a fake and you would need a letter. Tell us where the USN mark is at

The pistol is marked on top "US Navy" The SN "V46868" is all together on the right side of the lanyard not separated.

In my experience, and it is never an exact science, the prefix letter or letters on the Victories is usually to the left of the lanyard ring with the number to the right in entirety. Flaming bomb before the prefix letter or letters. If that helps. Some did not have the flaming bomb on the butt, but on the left top strap before the property mark. The Navy marked examples I have seen are at times a law unto themselves, would not expect to see the flaming bomb symbol on them as they are army markings. The V plus serial all in one hit to the right of the Lanyard ring is new to me, you learn something new every day. Others with more knowledge will chime in soon I am sure, good luck, sounds like a nice find.

It sounds correct to me. I had one SV47xxx and the V47xxx portion was to the right of the lanyard. The pistol was later updated to use the hammer drop safety and the S was stamped at that time both on the butt and the side plate. Dan
