Avoid like the plague. Only use it on a 22 or airsoft imo. The only brand I would use that is "cheap" would be certain UTG products. UAG and NCstar just do not hold up to well, even on airsoft guns.

Try this.

Amazon.com: Streamlight 69220 TLR-3 Weapon Mounted Tactical Light with Rail Locating Keys: Sports & Outdoors@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/513c0ZPF76L.@@AMEPARAM@@513c0ZPF76L

It seems to be a cheaper streamlite. it should be more durable than NC Star, and should be brighter than a measly 35 lumens.

Decent light, we have the TLR-4 which is the same as TLR-3 but with a laser. It fits on 9c adequate light for home defense, even back yard. Streamlight has a lifetime warranty too.

I've got the NC star one and a tlr1. Both are pretty good. The nc star one has lasted a few hundred rounds on my sig and now it is on my AR... It is pretty bright but has a little bit off a purple hue...

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a flashlight for my 9C. Does anyone have any opinions on this one? It seems to get great reviews on Amazon and it's inexpensive.

Amazon.com: NcStar Pistol and Rifle Led Flashlight/Quick Release Weaver (AQPTF): Sports & Outdoors

TIA! :D

I always read the one star reviews to see what went wrong.

Most of those say this light fails after actually shooting it on a gun. :(

I run Streamlights. I wouldn't want to actually need the light and have it die on me!

I have the nc star light on my full size M&P 357 Sig. It has not failed or broken, has worked fine for the couple of years ive had it.

It works for johnmed3, and I hope it always works for you!

But what if 2% of them failed? What about 5%? 10%?

That's the risk you have to decide if you are comfortable with. I'd rather spend the extra $30 or $40 and get a light I trust more.

It really depends on your level of need and trust.

With a cursory read on the light's info it appears it was made for a low caliber firearm, .22 cal. I'd be afraid the shock of firing anything larger would cause it to malfunction. The big question - when would this occur? The first shot? The 100th? 1000th? I wouldn't want to take that chance. It's always wise to get something that's designed for the product you want to use.

I know someone who for the heck of it taped a cheap led flashlight on his Glock. He used a good quality duct tape. The tape outlasted the flashlight, lol. I think he got 2 or 3 rounds off before it failed.

I prefer my Maglite Mag-Tac free in my left hand.

Fits all my guns and is already detached in case I need to see somewhere except where I'm pointing my weapon or more importantly, when I don't want what I'm pointing at to see me anymore.

YMMV.

Maglite? LOL

When I don't want what I'm pointing at to see me, I just turn the light off. If I want to see something without pointing my weapon at it, I use my Streamlight ProTac 2L.

But if I want to hold my weapon and my light on a bad guy and carry something or hold a dog leash with my non-gun hand, well I can do that with my weapon mounted light.

I can detach my light easily also if I want.

I really don't see the downside to a weapon mounted light except for holstering.

YMMV.

Ever seen the Mag-Tac? Careful on making assumptions.

Now you got me thinkin' :p

How does that Mag-Tac stand up against my Streamlight ProTac?

The Mag-Tac looks good.

They're both 123 batteries which I like.

The Mag says it puts out 320 lumens and Stream now puts out 260 with the new bulb, pretty close, both really bright.

The Stream has a lifetime warranty and I assume the Mag does too?

The Stream is $40 or less. How much is the Mag?

The Mag is bigger. Longer by more than an inch and much bigger in diameter. Some may like that.

How does that tail cap switch work? Can you program it?

What is the lumen rating of the low power on light on that Mag?

I searched and I'm not finding those answers on the Maglite site.

Momentary on with press and release.

Full on with double-press.

Strobe with triple-press.

One-press off from either on.

Has no <100% power switch setting (no low power).

About $60 give or take.

I own both. Mag-Tac is my go-to. Love it.

WTH? I saw a couple of good reviews. Not the first time I've ever pissed away $20 :D

Woot
