NcSTAR Mark III

I'm just confused over what part of this is "hard" I could have it fixed for you in a few minutes (not including set time for the epoxy) I have all sorts of epoxies in my tool box, doesn't everyone????

Tell ya what... Screw the whole base off the scope (remove the two allen screws underneath) send me the entire base, PM me for my mailing address. I will fix it for you and ship it back to you, on my dime..

What's a tool box?

See? It's already confusing. You said I have to mix epoxy with water, but a quick google search shows that there are some you don't have to. What brand do I buy? How long do I wait? How do I reassemble it? Does this void my lifetime warranty (probably!). Or, I could trash it and spend $65 on a centerpoint from Walmart .

I never said mix it with water and I obviously can't walk you through this.... If it was in my hands it would be fixed.. You can send it back to NcStar it's going to cost you shipping to them and shipping back...

There is nothing more I can do I guess... I tried!

Somebody said to mix it with water. The pins don't even fit into the holes like they're supposed to, so how in the hell am I supposed to epoxy it together?!
 
send it back they r easy to work with.. turn around is around 2 weeks and if u have not had it more than 90 days they will wave the return shipping

Forget about glue and duct tape. Send it back to NcStar. They will send you a new scope. Put the new scope on your 15-22 (not a centerfire) and be happy.

No way. I'm not giving them $10. They're not getting another cent out of me.
 
The pins are supposed to be tight in the holes, it's called a Press-Fit and they are supposed to stay pressed into the piece. Not sure why they came out. You very well may not be able to get epoxy on them and get them in the holes. If you have a malleable hammer (Brass) you could tap the pins back into their holes and they may never come out again.

When you buy a 3-9x short optic with a QD mount and a reflex sight and mount for under $200.... just plan on mounting it on a airsoft or .22lr.

Yeah sure for something milled out of a solid hunk of billet T6061 alloy, your gonna pay through the nose.. That doesn't mean it HAS to be milled from T6061 it could be casted much more cost effectively (in large batches). LaRue is expensive because it's LaRue the same reason A.R.M.S or Daniel Defense is expensive.

Is any Trijicon scope really "worth" the prices? No.... They have a contact to supply the US Military and because us armchair QB's wanna be Tacti-Cool plus the Government Contract, they know they can get 2 grand out of a scope.

That's just my opinion though and your mileage may vary... My buddies 3-29 power Millet is as nice as they come, it weighs in at an astonishing 7LBS and it cost him $300.... *shrugs*

Whether something is "worth" the price is another matter. Here is reality: These dime store optics are not going to hold up centerfire abuse, period - end of story - end of discussion - end of broken parts.

I don't agree.. but hey there's guys on the Sniper forums that think any scope that costs less than 3 Grand is garbage. If my life depended on it, I'd probably agree (because I wouldn't be paying for it) but I'm just an arm chair mall ninja... :)

Yeah his Millet was 3 bills, it's freakin HUGE! (Now grated, he got a heck of a deal on it, I think it's normally 500 or so...) it's on his Remmy VTR .308 :)

Geez, wake up on the wrong side of the bed today? I think you'll like that Centerpoint. I have the same scope on a mossberg .22. It seems really well made, especially for the price. If your just going to throw out the broken one, send it to Brett248vista or Chattanooga. Brett was trying to help you out. (on his own dime)
 
Ahh I'm just kidding. I was going to buy a centerpoint anyway. The other one is sitting up right now. I'm waiting for that epoxy stuff to dry. Hopefully it works.
 
Let this be a lesson: buy a POS cheap copy made by some no name company and see what it gets you. Instead of buying these scopes because they look tacticool buy a decent scope by a real name scope maker.

For the time being though, I guess I just have to stick with my cheap Chinese scope! Can't wait to get out to the long range and shoot some paper from afar with it..

Oh, my bad.:o I like that rifle. Kel-tec, right? Let us know how the epoxy holds up. I almost bought one of the Mark III scopes, but the more I read about them I'm glad I didn't. Seems like the quality control is poor. That's my opinion, others here seem to like theirs. I don't shoot beyond 50yds. very often so I went with a vortex strikefire red dot for my 15-22. I'm not sure if it's a "POS cheap copy made by some no name company" but it holds zero and I'm happy with it. The flip covers for it are hard to close, but easy and cheap to replace.

Well, I knew going into it that I could be getting a piece of crap scope. I was willing to take the risk though. If the epoxy works, great, if not, I'll just say it did and sell it to you. :cool:

And yes, it's a Kel-Tec.

I didn't buy it because of how it looked, I bought it because it was compact and had magnification. My Kel-Tec needs a short scope so that the gas tube can be removed for cleaning. If the scope is too long, it can't be removed, so I'll need to take it off every single time and risk losing zero. This is the only scope that fits the bill for under $1000.
 
im not trying to be a smart alec or anything, but how have you never heard of epoxy? and if you had already paid 100 dollars for the scope why not pay 10 dollars for the shipping to get one that is working and just resale it or something? seems like something minor to get so torn up over, they have a lifetime warranty. im not bashing you or anything but it really would not have been hard to settle it without having to "work" on it.
 
I'm still trying to figure out why it came apart.. There's always a "why", if the pins don't easily go back into the plate, then they did not just fall out, so again that brings us back to why did they come out?

I've had mine apart numerous times (just had it apart a few moments ago) and I flipped my QD lever around so that it tightens to the front rather than the rear (so as to not get in the way of the charging handle) and I just keep trying to figure it out... I don't think the scope is junk, I wouldn't call mine junk anyway.. It's not the best scope out there, yes there are much better scopes, but there are also much worse, I think this scope is worth precisely what I paid for it.

Have you ever heard of thermal paste? I can't believe it! Really though, I've never heard of epoxy because I've never had the need for it before, the same reason you've never heard of thermal paste (well, maybe you have, but it's just an example).

Why won't I pay the $10? Because I feel as though I shouldn't have to pay for something that is inherently broken. Why should I give them one more dime on something that fell apart without even being used yet?

And who exactly is getting torn up? I was content with just throwing it out. I took a chance with a D list scope and it didn't pay off. I thought I was pretty chill with the whole thing.

I can't really tell you man. I was just fixing it to my rail, it wasn't too tight or anything, and pop, it flew off.

Anyway, I have it back together now, but the part that came off isn't even with the rest of the base, but whatever. I'm done screwing around. Time to see if this works.
