Need a belt now that I have my CCW.

Our duty gear is nylon, and I've found that the 5.11 Double Duty TDU belts are excellent support underneath our duty belts. They also easily support my concealed carry revolvers (Yes, I carry two.) when I'm dressed casually (99.99% of the time).

+1. I use my "inner" belt that works with my nylon duty gear as my trouser belt when dressed casually. It is stiff and carries a holster well. Some are available for as little as $10 from Quartermasters (Law Pro) or Galls (Duty Pro) while the bigger names (Uncle Mike's, Bianchi) cost a bit more.

The 5.11 Double Duty TDU belts run around $19.95 and are black on one side, coyote (brown) or green on the other. I wish they'd have had these when I was in the Army!

Look up "The Wilderness" belts (thewilderness.com). I'm a huge fan of their 5-stitch "Original Instructor Belt." It is nylon and ridged as all get-out, but still comfortable. You won't earn huge style-points unless you run with a crowd that likes the tactical look, but I've never found a belt that can better support a holster and handgun of any size.

They even make a titanium version, so you won't set off metal detectors when you travel or enter secure buildings.

I went over to Tandy Leather (On Hampden near SanteFe, since you are local) and bought a belt blank made of harness leather. That is some thick, stiff leather. I then cut it to length, punched the holes in it for the buckle and dyed it black. I am in to it about $20.00, not counting the buckle.

It is a good belt for me, I have 2 guns riding on it. My Sigma .40 is on the strong side and my Ruger LCR .357 is on weak side cross draw. I have been using it for about 2 months or so and is holding up very well.

All you need is a website and you're in business!!:D

Let us know if you buy one.

Bud11, right now my intent is to buy a 1.25" black bullhide belt with internal stiffener from either AG Custom GunLeather or A Better Belt USA . With my preference for full-size all stainless steel S&W's, and my intent to carry my S&W 1911 OWB, I'm concerned about a 1.25" belt twisting or sagging from the weight.

I contacted Rick Garcia, who is a great guy and answered several questions for me, but he said he doesn't offer an internal stiffener, so I contact Al at AG Custom, and he was very helpful, and willing to make the belt exactly as I want. The other vendor that I like is A Better Belt USA, the belt they have pictured

is what I am looking for, and they offer a roller-buckle which I am undecided as to whether or not it helps prolong the life of the leather.

I needed a belt awhile back and asked my dad if he had any (he's put n weight, had LOTS of belts). The one I ended up with turned out to be a Bianchi, couldn't ask for a better belt, and already broke in too!

I use the 5.11 leather belt with the perma stiff insert. It's been holding up great!. Think I paid $20 off of eBay

I looked for a bargain, bought one from Blackhawk for about $35, and it's cracking and splitting where you buckle it. It's plenty firm, but will have to get a new one soon I'm sure. Going to get something different, with all the +'s on Beltman I guess I'll get one of theirs. I have to have a dress belt. Mitch Rosen told me his belt was the best, that my Blackhawk wouldn't hold up. He was right at least about it holding up..
