One recommendation, color copy the letter and use the copy, saving the original. I have used shadow boxes in several configurations and sizes for displaying antique S&W's. These are just an example, often the people at Hobby Lobby, or your local framing shop that do the framing can offer recommendations.
Great idea about getting a quality copy and having that framed, keeping the original in a safe place. On the way to a custom frame shop now with your display cases in mind. Thanks!
Love those Colts, very nice! I went to a custom frame shot and showed them what I wanted and it turns out he builds display boxes all of the time for all sorts of weapons. You'd never know it because there are only pictures on the wall for sale along with his large frame display. I showed him H. Richards and we are going with something like that (with a brass plaque) but with a copy of the letter in it as well. He is putting a quote together for me and I'm afraid to see how much it's going to cost.I like the way H Richard did his. Here is the way I have a couple of my Colts displayed. They are actually in football trophy cases like you see in Michael's Craft or other craft stores. The M1911 is held up by bolting an inexpensive magazine to the floor of the case. The Colt Official Police is held upright by a stand I handmade. Both cases have a clear cover and a mirror on the backside of the cover. The Authentications from Colt are professionally framed. Not sure of the best way to frame the S&W Letter since it is not in the same format as the Colt certificate.
