Called about a 19-3 for sale for $450, do not have much info. yet, but seller said it is 4" blue, wood grips and wooden case. No info yet on tools. seller said near mint. On this info, is the price worth driving 1 hr. Thanks.

The 19-3 is the most common varient I see for sale and around here thats the average price for an "Average" 19-3.
CONDITION is everything.
If it is "MINT" condition or unfired with all docs and tools thats an OK price.
A shooter grade gun with various scratches etc than its an average price,
Anything in lower condition would not be worth an hour drive IMHO.

19-3

Thanks for the advise, bought it yesterday, cond... perfect, only very light turn ring, action & timing, tight and also perfect. It appears to have been shot very little. Also paid $25 less.

I see comments like this a lot. However in my area, if you can even find one, a 19 or 66 will go for > $550, and a P&R one will average about $100 more and that's usually no box.

Same on gun broker or other websites.

I want to know where this magical place is where you can pick up good condition S&W's for $450, because it aint here, even at gun shows.

Tried to post pictures this morning but couldn't get them to upload to photobucket. Decided to stop before I threw computer out the window. I'll try later when someone smarter than me stops by.

The presentation is probably worth $75-$100 alone, I would go right away and bring some extra dough if possible, in case he has others.......

Here's my 19-3 picture is not the best, but the best I can do right now.

Tedog I tried to enhance a bit to bring out the color. Hope you don't mind. It looks like it's in very good shape. You did well.

Sir, I do not mind, I am thankful. Sometimes I think I'm to old to ever learn to post good pictures. It took my wife and I about1 hour to do the pic. post, but were learning. Thanks, Tedog

Nice Score...I can't even find a M10 for less than $500 lately! Good for you!
