New guy here so this may be a dumb question. Does anyone have any information on cutting the barrel of a S&W 500 from 6.5" to about 3"? Thanks ahead of time.

I believe the 500 uses a tensioned or 2-pc barrel, so no you couldn't cut it. They do offer a 4" factory barrel with the built in comp. Beside loosing velocity and gaining recoil I wouldn't really want to go much below the 6.5" myself.

Thank You for the answer. Can anyone tell me if I can send my gun to S&W could I purchase a 2.75" barrel? If so, what is a ballpark price for this? Thank You

I don't have all the parts or prices. I bet with shipping both ways, barrel, barrel shroud, extractor rod, center pin & labor it could be over $300 bucks easy.
I'd call them for fun, but if I were you I'd look for another gun.
