hey guys i have a couple of pieces that need some work (k model and 1911). ive been told that Magnum Mikes in Peoria is really good but havn't found anything on him...

Two other gunsmiths that you might consider are Nelson Ford and Frank Glenn. They do excellent work. I've had revolver work done by both, and I couldn't be happier. They also do 1911 work. Good luck.

Nelson Ford's work is outstanding. So good, in fact, that he can be choosy about what guns he will work on. It depends on the make of your 1911 as to whether he'll work on it. Beyond the fact that he will work on Colts, I don't recall which other 1911s he will or will not work on.

I've had several revolvers get Nelson's trigger jobs and they are sweet...be prepared to pay up front! He is a nice guy but I felt like I was in that Seinfeld episode with the Soup Nazi !...if you mess up..."NO SOUP FOR YOU". I know he will not work on Officers size 1911s and I'm sure there are other restricted items!

Spoke to Nelson Ford over the phone and he went off on a tirade about how if he works on a gun then you (the customer) are never allowed to take the side plate off. I don't need that type of attitude; he's a gunsmith not a brain surgeon.

only thing he will be doing if fitting a new high ride beaver tail and new hammer/sear/trigger...
