Need help and information on the Davidson County patrol Nashville TN.

I need help with finding information on the Davidson County Patrol from 1940 and a Sgt J. M. West. If any one has a connection to this area or dept, what I would like is pictures and information from this time period.
I am doing a display in Texas this year on the Rare and Limited Revolvers and the Men that Owned them.
I contacted the Davidson County Sherriffs dept but they were not any help. The Deptments in Nashville were combined in the 60,s
so information is hard to find.
the sherriff in 1940 was Bob Marshall thats about all I was able to find.
I have not been able to find out any information on Sgt West.
Any information that anyone has or can find would be a Great help.

Jim,until about 1963 or 1964 the police dept had jurisdiction in the old Nashville city limits and the sheriffs dept had jurisdiction over the rest of Davidson County.In the early sixties the old city limits and the rest of the county were merged into what is now Metropolitan Nashville.If this fellow you are researching was in the old Nashville police dept the sheriffs dept would not have any records on him.Two sources might be able to help.The phone number for the human resources of the Nashville police dept is 615-862-7351.If they can't help maybe they can direct you to another department there that could.The other resource you might try is the local newspaper the Nashville Tennessean.Their number is 615-259-8300.I was born in Nashville in 1948 so that was before my time.Hope this may be of some help.If I can think of any other resources I will let you know.

Jim,in the currrent Nashville phone book there are two J.M. Wests listed.Their numbers are 615-297-5180 and 615-226-7438.Hope this is of some help.

Jim the webpage of the Davidson County Sheriff's office says that Bob Marshall was the Sheriff from 1940 to 1942. You might contact them for more info.
