Need help identifying grandad’s handgun

Mine is S131668 shipped in April 1955, less than a month before me.

The numbers in the cylinder swing out look like S 50625 with a 3 underneath the numbers. The cylinder arm numbers are 60626. Thank you.

Please post better pics of those two numbers.
You have a very valuable gun, but those numbers are a very troubling anomaly. I suspect you are misreading them.

Thank you so much! As far as the story goes, he was the sole owner. Bought it, and carried it as his vehicle gun. He passed a few years ago, and my dad handed it down to me this year.

Gorgeous gun. For being kept in a vehicle it looks to be in fabulous condition. Certainly not what I think of as a "truck gun"!

Condition wise it certainly does not look like it led a truck guns life. She’s a beauty.

Congratulations on your inheritance! The .357 Magnum is the top of the line Smith & Wesson and, IMO, one of the finest handguns ever produced. Yours is in amazing condition for being born in 1955. I wish I was in that good of shape!

Do you have the box, paperwork, sight adjustment tool, and cleaning kit? These all add to the value, collectability, and history of the gun. If you are inclined, you could write down everything you know about your grandfather, his work, your memories, etc., and make an accompanying story line for future generations. Were it me I'd include chapters on my father and myself as well.

I'm seeing 60825, not 60625 correct?
