Hello. I am looking at re-entering the 2700 precision pistol game, and looking in this year's National Match program, I see that pistols and revolvers must have an ECI. I have an ECI for my 1911, but I am at a loss for my K22 and K38. I haven't seen new Smiths, so I don't know what the factory provides. I could alter a rifle ECI, but I can't visualize that.

Can anyone suggest something I could make, or where I could purchase one?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

My new revolvers have come with these. Or you could leave the cylinder open and put the flat down the barrel of the revolver, which in turn would prevent the cylinder from closing, ensuring it is safe

I just googled that photo for an example. Fairly certain is a Chiappa Rhino due to the fact the barrel hole ain’t up at the top. Just used the photo as an example so I didn’t have to dig one out and take a photo myself

Take a ziptie, about 6-8". Loop it and cinch it tight. You now have an empty chamber indicator. Insert it into the barrel with a few inches out to prevent the cylinder from falling closed.

If you don't have a ziptie, a length of weedwhacker line with a square knot at one end works fine.

Or just stick a wood pencil through the frame to prevent the cylinder from closing.

Nobody's going to give you a hard time. In an autopistol, we're primarily looking for something to show that there's no cartridge chambered, and that the slide can't go into battery. Mostly to make inspecting the line faster and easier, and partially to ensure that a 1-in-a-million slam-fire couldn't occur with people downrange.

How about this?

Put the shaft down the barrel. Prevents the cylinder from closing and gives a ready visual reference (like the open cylinder isn't enough).

Available on Amazon.

Adios,
