I picked up a used S & W 4566 at a gunshow and it has to be the most inaccurate handgun that I ever shot. Shoots low & left and groups like a shotgun pattern. Would a Wilson groupgripper help? Also would adjustable sights that fit a 1911 be suitable for this gun. Anybody have experience this model?
Thanks for any help.

LPA makes an adjustable rear sight that would fit but I don't know that's the problem.

I have a 4586, the DAO version, & it shoots great, like all my other 3rd Gens, even with DAO pull.

SA trigger pulls are usually around 6.5-7.0# on these which may take getting used to compared to a 1911.

How's it's wear? Slide rails? Barrel bushing? Different ammo?

.

When I first got my 4566 it shot low, I changed the front sight to a trijicon that was taller, that fixed the problem. I understand S&W had several front sights they used depending on the department that ordered them. Shooting to the left is another matter I think.

All of my generation 3 pistols shoot fine right of the box. All are .45 caliber. In fact, I have never added accessories to any of my guns, except for changing a cheap wooden stock for a better one, on a rifle.
