Need help picking a ranged rifle

Rule 3....... I've heard a lot of good things about the Savages........ you have a CZ so you know

all the CZs are old school nice, good to great wood.....99.99% shoot mia out of the box...... and If you have an FS Mannlicher stocked one ........ they are just toooo cool!!!!!!

And again the price is right....... I know the Savages are cheaper but to me it shows...... not in how they shoot but how they look and feel

1:7 is considered the best twist to stablise the 77gr bullet in the Mk262 cartridge.

Heavier 223 bullets need a 1/7 twist for best stability. Doesnt mean a 1/9 or 1/8 cant but for optimal accuracy you'll need 1/7.

1/9 is great for bullets up to 69gr (ok i suppose you cant add 70gr as well)

This Savage was probably more than a CZ and doesn't even have Turkish Walnut.:( ;)When I bought it, it was between the CZ and this. I did not like the CZ mag hanging down so far. The Savage is flush. Barrel is fluted stainless also.
The Lam stock is actually more money than the Walnut in the CZ.

6mm in a bull barreled gun with a 700 Remington action is an awesome rifle.

That or an Anschutz 54 action.

Optics at 300 yards for target? I'd go 20 power or more. I use 20 power at 50 feet for .22 target shooting. I can see my pulse in the crosshairs! :D

You mentioned target shooting on the farm out to 300 yds. I'm going
to assume since you said on the farm you're talking about targets of
the pest variety such as groundhogs and crows rather than paper targets. Accuracy requirements for varmints can be met by any good
.223 sporter weight rifle with a quality scope. Some people like Savage
bolt actions but I'm not fond of their multi piece action design. I have
a Ruger MK II standard sporter rifle with 22" barrel in .223 with a 3-9X
Leupold mounted in the rings that came with the rifle. It doesn't get
much more simple than that. Remington 700s have a good reputation
for accuracy, I'm not overly fond of their action design either but lots
of folks like them. Any good bolt action .223 should suffice. Just don't
spend all your money on a rifle and put a $49.98 scope on it like so
many people do.
