I just got a secondhand M14-6, round butt, Serial BUBXXXX, 6" barrel, .38 Sp, that the previous owner has filed down the front sight so its now impossible to hold in the middle. The rear sight is all the way down as well, unclear reason. It now shoots center if I hold bellow the black (the black is about 8" circle, it means It now shoots 4" high) at an ISSF 25m target, which is the normal thing to do in ISSF target shooting in Europe. I need to be able to hold dead center so therefore I need a new front sight but its very hard to find one here. Could somebody point out the correct one from Brownells, if there is any, or another source for a new front sight that will ship to Europe. The gun in the top of the pictures is a M16-4 for comparisson only. I would appreciate any help bigtime!

My first thought would be to call to Smith and Wesson and have them ship you a replacement original front sight

The part cost falls way below the new exemption level for ITARS ($500) and it is not one of the prohibited parts, so it should not be an issue

The gun shoots quite well, I tried 10 different loads with two different powders and the best at 25meters did this.

Probably a previous owner set it up for a six o'clock or "bullseye" hold. Someone here probably knows the rear blade and front post heights, or S & W will definitely know and may still have the parts available.
