So today I received "The Plug" from Bullseye Smith for my 686-6. I managed to take it apart okay and installation of the plug went fairly well. When I put the gun back together and did a function check the hammer wouldn't come back when I tried to dry fire it in double action. I tried to take it apart again to see what I did wrong and couldn't find anything. Below is a picture of the internal parts of my 686-6.

Thanks in advance! :o

Looks like your missing a double action sear. Though I'm not sure since I dot have a post lock gun to compare it to.

I'm not familiar with MIM guns but I just installed a target trigger and hammer in one of my forged-parts guns and I agree that the double-action sear is missing. However, that sear is pinned into the hammer with a small coil spring under it and does not just fall out. Of course, it could be retained differently on an MIM hammer.

If it would be helpful, I can take a photo of a forged hammer with that seat attached.

I may be wrong but it looks like you are missing the hammer safety bar the rest look OK

It rides with the loops over the small stud on the trigger rebound return bar

Yes I have the hammer safety bar it's just not in the picture.

WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!

The double action sear is missing, you should have a spring and a little black lver looking thing left over.

I don't remember seeing anything like that when I took the gun apart. Can someone post a picture of the internals of their 686-6 if possible?

It was in there before or the double action didn't work and the 686 hammer will look the same.
I can pop the side plate off my 686 and take a pic if needed.

I found the sear missing the spring. I could be spending a few hours looking for it lol!

So I finally found the little spring and it wasn't easy to find and put it back together. She works like a charm now and looks better without that dreaded lock. Thanks everyone for the help and thanks to Bullseye Smith for providing the plug! :D
