Hi Gentleman,

I picked up a new S&W 986 9mm revolver and got a chance to do some upgrades. One of the things that I did was I Installed an Apex Tactical Evolution IV Hammer Kit. Everything went smoothly, but I was left with an extra pin. The pin fell out when I was disassembling the gun, before the new parts were installed.

I don’t think it’s from the grips, but from the internals. I can’t figure out where it could have come from. Please take a look at the pics and let me know if you know where this extra pin should go. The pin is the one shown below the grips. Very much appreciated for your help.

It would appear to be the trigger stop pin that is installed inside the rebound slide spring. They are really of little use as they are not long enough to limit trigger travel to any significant amount! You can either re-install it inside the rebound slide spring or leave it out, you will never know the difference!

This is a question usually asked about N-Frame guns as they have it too! I wasn't aware the L-Frame guns had the trigger stop, must be something peculiar to the 986 PC!

Thanks Alk8944! I believe you are 100% correct on your assessment. I was looking at schematics of the L frame and it didn’t show the trigger stop. Thanks for helping out! Very much appreciated.
