I have a Thomas skid loader with a Kubota V2203 engine. There engines are used in many different applications. I am trying to adjust the valves and I am havine a real problem.
I have several manuals and have checked with the dealer, but I cannot find the inspection hole to set the engine at TDC.
The manual does not specify where is it located, just a pic of the hole and the marks on the flywheel. I have a large mirror and a light, but I cannot find the hole to find the TDC.
I can see the flywheel teeth and I have went around the flywheel, but I cannot find it.
I need to get the engine at TDC, adjust 4 vales, turn it 360, and adjust the remaining valves.
Can anyone help me here. Any information would be greatly appreciated.:D

The hole probably has a cover on it to keep crud out of the bellhousing. Look for either a cover fastened by one or two bolts or rubber plug.

However, might the timing marks be on the harmonic balancer?

I'm assuming the manual you're using is the one at this link. Look on page G-26 of that manual:

Zoom in on the top drawing. Note where the mechanic is sticking his screwdriver. It's in the "opening" on side of the flywheel cover. The third drawing is a close-up of that "opening"... looks like it has a cover that must be moved out of the way to access and view the timing marks.

I did not even look at that diagram. I was looking at the valve adjustment section. Thank you for that reply.
I see in the diagram where the cover and the marks will be.
It is on the side of the engine that is almost impossible to get to. I am going to have to come up with a way to get in there, and a way to see the marks.
Thanks for the information.:D
