Need info on pre Mod-10

I was at my dealers shop this morning, window shopping, and he's got a pre M-10 5 screw in his case. Nice tight gun about 90%+ on the finish, slight holster wear at tip of barrel, and slight wear on some sharp edges, no pits or scratches. Grips are mint and numbered to gun. Patent Feb.6, 06.Sept.14,09,Dec.29,14 on 6" standard barrel, ser.# S 819***. He's asking $300 firm, my questions are DOB and is his price in the ballpark ?? TIA

It's a transitional long action with the hammer block safety, made 1945-48 (closer to 45).

The new hammer block started at SN S811120 in 9/45. The $300 price is about right in the condition you describe.
