Need info

I have 629-4 Alaskan backpacker I know nothing about it it is my first revolver. I has a 3' barrel that says Alaskan backpacker on it and a kinda primitive looking bear and mountain seen on its right side. Could anybody give me any info on it I am also looking for a way to make it look as good as some of the other stainless guns I'm seeing on the site. I'm sitting wondering man how'd they do that. Thanks ahead of time fella's.

Hi, there is a listing in the standard S & W reference - product code 103611, made for Gart Bros, RMA serial prefix, 3" ported barrel. It was made sometime between 1993 and 1997.

Stainless is pretty forgiving material for polishing. I like Renaissance Pre-Lim and Wax but others will come up with suggestions. Photos are always appreciated. Enjoy!

I found one Alaskan Backpacker listed in the Standard Catalog of S&W. The one listed with this name says it is a square butt configuration with a ported barrel. Does yours have these features?

Also is mentions it is a special run from Gart Bros. within it's own RMA000x serial number range.

It looks like it might have been made in the early 90s, but I'm not sure.

I like it better already. I don't care for ports.
Of course you will want grips. Fancy grips
I got some Kuracs for my buddy's 4" round butt m-29 and changed his whole outlook about the little gun.
