I have a S&W model 65-7. I currently have the trigger assembly and rebound slide assembly removed from the gun because I was trying to diagnose a problem with the hand spring tension.

I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly how the hand torsion spring (#29) is supposed to be installed. I've looked at Brownell's online schematic, but having problems visualizing the assembly procedure.

Can anyone help me, please?

Thanks for the info; I'll give it a try.

I don't have access to a rebound slide/spring tool. Do I absolutely need it or is there another acceptable solution when reassembling the rebound slide/spring? I can order it from Brownell's if I have to, but I'll probably never use it again after this one time.

I'm embarrassed to admit the the rebound spring went flying into the great unknown when I removed it. I thought I had it covered with my hand but obviously I didn't. If I can't find it today, I'll have to get one from Brownell's anyway.

A small Philips screw driver will work for the rebound slide spring.

Rebound spring

When you reassemble things, do it inside a gallon freezer bag. As someone who has chased flying springs and parts around the shop this will really help.

...And safety glasses.

Ideally the Philips should be just a bit larger than the ID of the spring.
