Need some 12 Ga. light trap loads

By chance that any of you have any Peters Blue Magic hulls and Green Dot powder.............................

I tried out some wads for a fit in this hull and tried Red Dot and some Green Dot to see how the crimps and fit would turn out.

I used the old Mec Jr. since I could set it up for a light crimp and
set the crimp deeper if needed. After the test, it made me remember why I used Bullseye power way back in the 70's for this hull for light trap loads.

Green Dot is not going to work with this hull, for me...........
with these items or load. Just a heads up for you boys and girls.
Stay safe.

Skeet;
maybe the RxP12 L (short wad )
only two that work well with the BM hull........ (12so for 1oz but over sized and high psi )

Look up some loads with IMR 7625. Great low pressure and low recoil loads.

This poster is correct. 7625 is a good powder for low pressures/velocities....unfortunately it was discontinued some years ago along with another low pressure/recoil powder that Dupont/IMR made...PB. Luckily I still have at least 5 lbs of each. 7625 is a good handgun powder too.

41 dollars a bag for shot is terrible. Luckily I make quite a bit of mine but I recently bought a 1/2 ton of 7 1/2s 8s and 9s...magnum shot for 32 a bag. I sold most for 36 and kept some mag 9's for loading 410 shells. I mostly use Remington cases for the 410 but have a few thousand Estate 410s. They load just fine for 2 or 3 loads. But they take about a grain more powder. I also loaded Bullseye many years ago in low velocity light shot charge shells but wasn't very happy with it. If you can load either 7/8 or 1 ounce loads try some 700x(approx 15.7 to 16.4 gr loads). It is a somewhat better powder for that use since they changed the formula many years ago. I really don't load 12 ga much anymore and I just purchased 16 lbs of 700X in a lot at an auction for 45 dollars....but I was bidding on the lot because it had an Ohaus 10-10 scale in it.

Just had to add..the Green dot load will work in the Blue Magic case but you will have to probably use the old style RXP 12 wads...or Remington made another wad hat would work..Don't remember the name or number of it off hand

SR7625 was discontinued 5 or more years ago. Use it all the time for my target 9mm, 40, and 45 caliber loads and it meters wonderfully. Not going to use any of my remaining stock for shotgun loads, for that I have Clays and Unique which are still being made. While both are poor metering powders a variation of 1/2 grain is acceptable in a Shotgun load and I'm not even close to being a good enough shot to notice any difference.

Sorry for the late follow up...........

Just wanted to let shooters know that my clean Beretta 391 gas tube WORKED with...........

my Rem STS hulls with a 1 oz. payload and a w209, cb 1100 wad, and Green Dot at 19.4 grs on the Skeet range.

The 1 1/8 load with a w209, DR F8 wad and 18.2 grs of Green Dot also worked at the 16 yard Trap line.
All shells ejected in the 48 degree weather at the club.

I will re-shoot these loads in my O/U to see how clean the burn is and if
these Green Dot powder loads might be a keeper?

Thanks for all the help and shooting more.

No cb8100 so I got a bag of Rem. TGT to try out in a 1 oz with the $39.99 bag of #9 I picked up for Skeet.
Will advise on how things worked out, if it stops raining or snowing around here and gets above 45 degrees.

Note on new TGT wads;

They are joined at the top to keep the 4 pedals together but.......
this also makes a lot of wads out of round and slows loading and with my 366 auto loader
this wad is just a little too long and can be pushed over, needing help, before pushing down into the hull, not to damage the wad.

They do hold a FULL 1 oz. of pellets but this will be the last bag of them that I will buy.

Good shooting.
