Need some Gen Z watch buying advice

^^^^^?????

Tudor is another great option, with a lot of history with Navy SEALs and other Navies around the world.

I did not know that there were so many GMT watches on the market until I looked. They are everywhere, and the majority of them are names I have never heard of. I have felt no need for one, but there must be many who do.

I have a serious question. Who would buy a watch named “Shinola”?

I'm afraid I am not much help. LOL Not in to dive style watches. Most of the watches made today are way too large for my taste. But I do want to say what you are doing is awesome! Any watch I wore on the ship (Adams class DDG) got beaten up quickly.

My 'work' watch is a titanium Seiko that is pretty badly beaten up. I wear it because it was my fathers and work would frown on me wearing my fathers Model 27.

I have a steel and gold Rolex DateJust I wear on weekends. I like having a different watch for weekends and holidays to help shift my state of mind to weekend mode. Like holiday roots on the ship. Maybe something of that mindset would be appreciated.

If he does not wear a watch now, gifting him one will not change that. If he does, he is in the 5% of gen x that does.

I got this $10k dollar Swiss mvt. Invicta for $75 bucks on a cruise once! Identical to the Daytona, rumor has it Rolex makes em for Invicta.

lol China makes em for Invicta. Currently Rolex doesn’t make anything but for Rolex. As a burgeoning horologist, I have an Invicta among my Rolex, Omegas, Breitlings, etc. They are good looking, robust and cheap. Paid $55 for this one. Bought it for the Milanese bracelet.

Pardon me for asking this question if it's already been asked but if you still have the watch your father gave you, have you considered passing it on to your son?
