Need some info on certain AR's

Sorry to add another one to the mix, but I really like my Bushmaster M-4 A3. It has the mini-Y comp brake and it VERY accurate. Most AR's can be had even in my part of the world(Alaska) for under a grand. Colt has resale for sure, but I'd look for a good deal on main names and see what feels good to you. I wish I had something smart%&* to say about a few of the megapost replies to your question but i don't want to further hijack your thread with the ever-intelligent "I know more than you" posts that miss the generality of the original question. Good luck to you in your choice and shoot it in good health.

For the guy that keeps saying Colt's are using large FCG pins. They stopped using them several years back and all Colts use the small pins including the "civilian" versions. Any recent manufactured Colt will use the same parts as the mil spec except for the barrel length and FCG.

In my previous post I recommended the Colt even though there are others as good. The Colt will be an easy sell if he decides to take up a different hobby. Most new buyers don't know what a BCM or Noveske is but will buy a Colt on the name alone.

Wow, that's a pretty bold statement. I wish the Internet was more visual, so that the AR gurus could regale us lowly noobs of the difference in a DPMS of the +$1000 price tag and a Colt of the same, or an Armalite costing less or a Larue at substantially more. Fact is, everybody makes a lemon. Maybe once here or there...maybe once a lifetime. But, you of all knowing AR knowledge, would convince any who will listen that an AR that is even the slightest bit more expensive is better than most. It's a Chevy versus Rolls argument. If it goes BANG, leave it alone. It's an experienced operator, such as yourself, to tell us what we need to know about what we own, rather than what is best to own.

Well I pulled the trigger and just ordered the Rock River Arms Elite Entry Operator 2 for $747 plus shipping and paper work.

Thanks for the info everyone, it really helped me out. Came down to what AR I really liked and felt(From the Gun Shows).

Bushmaster produces around 60% of the civilian market AR's. After that you have the other major producers such as Rock River, DPMS, Colt, Ruger, LMT, Daniel Defense, Troy Industries, S&W, and a few other smaller firms. For a gas system gun expect to spend $750+, for a piston gun expect to spend $900+.

Windham Weaponry....

If you want a well built AR put togeather by the same people that started the AR cloning business, take a long hard look at Windham Weaponry. Earlier this summer, Mr. Richard Dyke reopened the old Bushmaster plant with many of his former employees since Freedom Group / Cerebus shut it down and sold the company down the river to Remington.

Windham Weaponry Online -

Bushmaster used to build a fine rifle which in my view was superior to the Colt. That soon changed with Remington's growing influence. I bet that today, Windham Weaponry will build a better AR than ever.

These folks are really motivated, experianced and on track.

Holy cow, I thought I may have been the only one to see the Windham! Picked one up at LGS here in MO, lil heavy, but solid and nice price. Look for these guys in the future.
