As some of you may know, I went to trade my Model 36 snub for a 28-2 (all about the trade in my previous thread).
I need help putting a date on the Highway Patrol, and thanks in advance to everyone.
Serial is N8659x

By the way the revolver is in a 10 out of 10 mechanical condition and a good high seven out of 10 in looks.

Hi Guys,
I'm writing a post for the first time, bu I've been reading and learning from You for some time now.
I've bought recently 28-2 with quite close number N879XX.
I thought/hoped it was 1972, as That's the year I was born ;)
Are the grips factory set?

Yes, I'm asking about the grips in the pictures in the first post, because I have exactly the same grips on my 6 inch 28-2. On the other hand my 4 inch 28-2 (N27xx) has "magna" grips.

The grips in the original post appear to be Factory Smith & Wesson targets. Standard issue with all Model 28 were the Magna grips. Factory Target grips could be ordered as an option, or where added later by the owner.

Thank You for the information.

Nice 28-2.

It appears a previous owner put a trigger shoe on the trigger. So it may have had a 'Trigger Job' in the past. Give it a good cleaning and proper lubrication and you may have a great Range Day.
