New 15-22 owner, question

I had previously purchased a colt m4 ops but after more research decided I would rather have the m&p 15-22. I managed to fine a somewhat local shop that offered a full trade for a 15-22. I thought I was getting the version with threaded barrel but I actually got the standard version without threads. The owner of the shop offered to order the threaded version for me but it was an hour and a half round trip and I kind of liked the look of it without so I decided to bring it home. Plus he was nice enough to do the trade and I didn't want to be a pain in his ***.

If I decide I would rather have the threads can I buy the threaded barrel from S&W and switch it out? Or send it to them to have it switched?

They will not sell you a barrel. Most of us send the barrel to Adco. The following thread discusses doing so. Plenty other discussions on the forum about it also.

I purchased a Colt M4 Ops. Did more research, ended up getting a refund before the 10 day wait was complete. Got the M&P15-22 instead.

I seriously considered getting the Colt M4 Ops myself, was put off by a youtube vid, showing the barrel & inherent difficulty in cleaning. Did you shoot it? how did it feel compared to the 15-22? I have shot the Anschutz, the GSG, the H&K 416, the Remington VTR and even a AR ruger conversion and the 15-22 feels better and looks better than all of them.

I got an M4 ops in for a client, looked over it real good before transferring it, decided to order two of the Smith 15-22, one for myself and one for a friend. No comparison, and I understand the Mossberg is a real peach...

I had not fired the colt as I came across the difficulties in cleaning when I was researching how to clean it so I could make sure it was ready to be fired when I was ready to use it.

I havent shot it. Feels good in the hand when I was at the store. Watched the videos too and was turned off by the cleaning of it too. My friend in Colorado says his is dependable and shoots anything. He runs his dirty and has not had any issues.

Just throw a non-threaded barrel shroud on it and call it a day.
If you want threads on the barrel, there are faster, less expensive and much easier ways than threading the barrel or sending it in Etc.
