Well I put my first 300 rounds down range today and absolutely LOVE the M&P 15-22 for fit and function. This is my first go around with a AR type rifle. I've always been a scope user and I wasn't real great with the stock iron sights. Took me a while to get the sights onto a 8.5" x 11" - 50 yard target at 50 yards. Very high and right on every shot until I said to hell with it, moved in to about 100ft. and just unloaded! Landed 3 - 1/2" bulls eyes out of a full 25 round mag and the shot group was about 5" and a little high and right. I was shooting from the rear rack of my ATV and not sighting from a bench as I am accustom to. No time for the range this weekend, so I was shooting on straight away in the woods behind the house. I don't remember having this much trouble out of the M-16's I shot in the Army some 23 years ago. No scopes and I shot expert every time all the way out to 400 meters with iron sights. Maybe time for glasses. I don't have a front sight tool so I couldn't bring the front sight down and almost all of the way up with the rear sight. I think I'm pulling right as well. More to come when I hit the range next week. For now, I have to say, no FTF, FTE or any problems what so ever. Rapid fire was a blast! Love this gun, just have to learn to shoot iron sights again.

Not to hijack the OPs thread, but I'm a new owner, too...wife bought me a new M&P15-22 yesterday for an early 40th birthday present. Now I just have to find some time to go try it out...:)

"Hide the credit cards" LOL! I work out of town and the wife always gives me cash to eat on while I'm on the road. She does the bills so I'll be eating Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches and Ramen Noodles and hiding the rest for my new found love. This was a cross between my Anniversary and 40th B'day present as well. This was suppose to be a $300 Ruger 10/22 for my anniversary and wound up close to $700 with the S&W, extra mags and halo sight I have on order. I guess Christmas and my B'day are very much in jeopardy.

Your wife is a keeper for sure.
I am still waiting for my wife to buy me a gun and we have been married for 40 years. Still love her but quit holding my breath on her buying me a gun.

Some of my hobbies are Golf, Guitars, BBQ, and Guns... so I don't think I've ever had a birthday present, anniversary present, or any other kind of present actually take place on the actual dates. I'm always getting stuff early with things like, "Well.... that can be your birthday present".

Wives are cool. :)

Yes. Yes, she is. I screwed up on the first wife, but I made up for it with #2 (she's really number 1 now-had to throw that in.)

I was actually surprised at how dirty the gun was when I unpacked it and cleaned it. For a rifle that's (presumably) only been test fired at the factory, it was filthy!
