I recently traded into a 4566 to replace my 4586 which I never could get really comfortable shooting. I gave the DAO a good try, even went through a 2 day tactical training with it, but never was able to shoot it as well under those conditions as my TDA guns.
So, last night I was off to the range for a Tuesday after-work IDPA league shoot, but arrived late and ended up just doing some range work.
The first couple of magazines through the new 4566 were promising, but the trigger felt awful. I finally figured out that the trigger play spring has one leg broken, and wasn't doing it's intended thing. Nothing drastic, but when you're shooting a new-to-you gun for the first time you notice a lot of tiny things. The silhouette target was the first attempt.
I switched off to my well-loved 5906, and did OK. Out of practice I guess. Typically, the DA first shot is off the mark from the following SA shots, something to work on. Silhouette target first here again.
I grabbed some smaller bullseye targets, on my "aim small, shoot small" belief. The targets speak for themselves. Given a small target to shoot at, I'm always better than trying to find a consistent aiming point on a big target area.
The M39 (no dash) carry gun got to play this game, then the 4566, then the 5906. All targets two-handed, no resting.
I'm beginning to think the 5906 might need some tuning, maybe a different barrel. The grouping just is never as good as the others.
Finally, there's a family portrait. 39-2, 39, 5906, and 4566.
Edit: yes I know that the 4566 is on the target labeled 5906. I really can tell them apart, usually.
