Nearly identical in size to my 1st Gen. 4513TSW:

Range time probably on Sun. We tried to "encourage" the shop owners to allow free range time with a new pistol purchase. They did not agree. :(

I've got about ~200 dry fires already. I don't think the trigger is as smooth as it can be. I'm aware of the Apex DCAEK, but waiting before I just immediately change it.

First thing I've got in mind is the Crossbreed Super Tuck as this is intended for my daily carry. (OT: & speaking of the CST, would the same holster fit the 12rnd .40 as the .45 compact? That more of a question for the CST folks?)

Anyone interested in the regular base plate in trade for the extension base plate? Both fit, butt the extension fits my hand just that much better.

Your choice of the .45 Compact is an excellent one.I purchased one about three months ago and have about 500 rounds fired. Performance has been excellent and the accuracy is outstanding - as good as any of the 1911 style pistols I have. I carry the compact as my concealed pistol most of the time and know it is reliable. I only wish the M&P pistols like this one and the .40C I have were available during the 29 years I served as a federad special agent. S&W has a winner this time.

^+1 on those holsters. I carry a .45 fs in the ctac and have been since april and I love it.

Hi Laygo,
You might give S&W a call and ask them to send you some extended base plates for your magazines.I used to have the M&P 9c & 40c and they sent me two at no charge.Worth a shot...

Huh? I might just do that. I'd only need one for now, but I intend to get a few more mags.

Range report:

First few shots were a lil off, but I started getting the hang of it. I was not a bullseye on them all, but I was on paper! ;) I've got an image of my last 8 mags on 4 targets.

Top 2 targets are the extended base plate mags, bottom are the flat base plate:

Congrats! I really want one of these right now. I just need to move my full size 9mm to make it happen.

When I can find my decent digital camera, I'll do some better images of it side by side with my Gen1 4513TSW. They're remarkably close in size. If anyone wanted a .45 the same size as the 4513, they have an option.

I think I'm on the fence about the Apex DCAEK. The trigger will become less of an issue & I was working to ensure that I got a clean trigger break vs pulling it while targeting.

I also think I'm going with a CompTac MTAC instead of the Crossbreed. The biggest thing that selling me on the MTAC is the changeable kydex bodies. If I sent them my 4513, I could actually have a holster for it! Guessing by their number, they're also in Houston, I could probably drop it off when I'm in town.

MTAC is great. I have two of them, but the selection of shells is limited. I use them for a Walther PPS, Colt Officer's 1911, Kimber Pro Carry II, and my M&P 40c. Very comfortable and stable.

Not to be (over)redundant, but I've found that the pancake kydex I bought for my 40c from Personal Security Systems, to be one of the best values out there, not to mention great rig. I did a product evaluation on it a while back and have been wearing one for almost 3 months straight, and it's been nothing but good for me.

After I cleaned my gun, I noticed something odd:
MY FRONT SITE DOT IS MISSING! ***?!

I have no idea where it went. I could've sworn it was there the entire time on the range & it basically stayed in the case until I cleaned it.

Where'd it go? Also, how it compares better side by side with my Gen1 4513TSW:

man I love guns!
gotta say that is some good gun porn!!!
lol

LOL, thanks SilverCN.

Man, I've got a knot in my stomach. I just came back from the store I purchased the pistol & NOW EVERYTHING IS 15% OFF! If I had waited 10 days, I could've gotten it for $490 OUT THE DOOR!

You Dallas folk might want to poke your head in at Bullet Trap, because 15% off guns, 25% off optics/lasers, and 10% off accessories. Don't know when it ends, but daggumit if I didn't just purchase this, I'd purchase another!

And apparently from reading posts here & else where, the dots falling off is a common occurrence. Huh . . .

Because I can't leave well enough alone, I saw that CompTac is having an end of the year sale too. 10% off everything, so I went ahead & ordered my MTAC Minotaur!

Painful month on the bank account, but oh so joyous otherwise! :)

Good choice and you're going to love your 45c. I bought one when they first came out and just love the size of it. Out of all my M&Ps I like the feel of the 45c the best. The only thing I did to make it better was sending it to Robar for their NP3 finish.

I don't like two tone that much, but I gotta say that looks slick.
