Just received my 686-7 and the coating on the trigger is already peeling/flaking off right out of the case. Going to reach out to S&W tomorrow morning to see if they are willing to just send the trigger out. Not too excited about shipping this back to them and waiting months. Was like a kid at the candy store waiting for this thing to get here!

No surprise. S&W has some real issues lately. If it shoots good just forget it. Most likely there will be other issues as well.

I hope not. This won't be a safe queen by any means. Actually got it to hunt during our HAM Javelina season but I surely didn't pay what these fetch to have it come with the coating peeling off from the factory. That's crazy lol

I can tell you what they will say..... they won't mail a trigger. You have to send the gun to them. Pretty frustrating. My 629 Mountain Gun has the same issue. I contacted them.

I'm not sending mine in. I'm afraid it will come back in worse condition than how I sent it.

Quick update. Called S&W this morning and have a replacement trigger on the way. They told me to expect 10-15 business days for processing and then it will be out for shipping.

^Im shocked!

Does the action actually function? If so, you’re one ahead of me.

Did the gold bead fall out on the second cylinder full? If not you’re one ahead of me.

Did the forward side plate back out? If not, you’re one ahead of me.

Is your crane/frame gap less than.028”? You’re one ahead of me.

Is your rear sight so jacked up you can see light between it and the top strap?

To anyone who will listen….. go on Gunbroker and pay too much for an old S&W. Or buy a Colt. Don’t make the same stupid mistake that I did.
