"New" 686 at last...

I applaud our friends in the jurisdictions where a pocket knife is illegal and gun ownership involves so many regulatory stipulations, each of which is a perpetual financial burden. My hat is off. Great cannon.

The glamor version ... ;)

Yes, sir! Beeeeaaauuutiful!

As I started to read your post, I was thinking you were going to pick up the adjustable front sight version. I picked one up a while back it is a ton of fun. Congrats on the new 686 -- you'll love it!

Continuing quest

Andy,
Great looking 686's you do realize of course you are missing one. Your set won't be complete witout one on these;

Andy- Congratulations! I just got a used 686 last week, and am really enjoying it. They are incredibly accurate. I know you'll enjoy your's too!

Thanks guys... :)

tackdrvr....ahhhhh yes the 2.5 version....you know I would if I could but the law here sees me needing at least 4 inches of barrel so I can't. A mate of mine has a 686 with the 8 + inch barrel and AF sights....damn but that thing is accurate and easy to bounch things around with. You can also take old of the muzzle and it will work and a satisfactory golf club... :)

I have a 686 with a 6" barrel that I bought used but looked and felt brand new. My wife likes to put .38 Special Wad Cutters through it, I've been putting .357 Magnums through it. My arms aren't very happy after shooting 50 rounds though! I LOVE that gun! So easy to get the targets lined-up with that red front sight.

I also just picked-up a 625 with a 6" barrel, that is an awesome gun too.

Smith and Wesson certainly have a great trigger!

Now, what about something in 4"? Any recommendations? Another 686? I don't know why I am liking revolvers so darn much.

I really like the Stainless Steel guns, not into the blued guns so much.

...if you like your 6 incha nd stainless it would be hard to go past the 4 inch 686... now if you find a 4 inch CS-1 you would be in heaven.

Trip to the workshop today saw the "pimp" getting blasted right off of it... did a bit of work on the trigger, not there yet but MUCH better than it was ... :)

And with it's "Little Brother" ....

It will probably get in to have the front sight changed out later this week all being well...!!

Andy :)

Andy,
Looks good. You have good taste. If you have a line on Millet sights down your neck of the woods, please drop us a PM.

Cheers,

Aussie D

Your smith did a nice job on the front sight. All the ones I have seen are forged with the barrel, so he had to do some good mill work to install it. I prefer the Patridge sight on the longer barrels too.

....I have not seen a set for sale in ages mate. The set on this one I bought by mistake about 10 years ago and was just too lazy to return them...glad I didn't now ..!!

Rear sight is a Millet and the front is a S&W genuine part fitted here by the Aussie S&W agent. He does nice work no doubt at all.

Andy

I like the four and six inch the best myself. But I would get the four inch changed to match the six inch on the front sight. Better sight system and you can always change them if you want. Get some HBWC and load them and drive tacks.
