Picked up a 4" 586 No dash that had been updated firing pin. It came to me with pachmayr grips. It has some holster wear but in overall good condition.

I'm old enough to have bought one new when they were introduced, still have an early nickel 4" but foolishly traded in my blue 4" on a Model 59 for the police academy...

The very earliest versions have a large right side TM so keep your feelers out for them as they are a small minority maybe only lasted a year tops .

I noticed a couple like that on GB (completed listings) AAE and earlier s/n prefix. The SCSW also has a one-sentence note about some shipping in two-piece boxes with metal corners and hand written label (not the folded kind). There was one like that, sold for $1050 including the box and cleaning kit in September, AAC s/n prefix. AAC would be 1981, AAE 1982.

By the time mine was made in 1983, it had the small logo, and the folded box, like most of them. For reference, I paid $950 a year ago, FFT. No bargain, but it came with box and papers. The seller threw in a box and a half of old .357 ammo, which made it a good deal at the time, locally at least. ABE s/n prefix, no M overstamp, 1983 stamped inside grip.

Repost but I wanna share not only a good deal but a good shooter as well.
-1 found as you see it now, grips and all for $150... Needless to say, it's been a while.

I picked up a 586-4 with combats a few years ago in the mid $600 range and thought that was a good deal! That $150 is a steal even many years ago!

Yes, it was a heckuva steal deal, even back then. Early 90's and LE (both officers and depts.) were unloading their old-fashioned wheel guns for the latest tactical tupperware (namely glock). Ahh, the good old days...

PeteC, I paid as much a year ago or so.
Don't fret. Ya got a good deal!

I had a 586 back in the 80's that I traded even up for a PYTHON. A couple years ago picked up this -3 on the forum and added some Culina perfection.

I, too, would love to find that elusive snubby.

Hard to miss those grips,:D Care to share what kind of wood these are? Culina have so many to choose from.

It is surprising that more of those "carried a lot, shot little" surplus guns are not showing up on GB and other places. Just a few years ago LE surplus K-frames showed up in batches. Makes you wonder if they are sitting on pallets in warehouses somewhere.

Ladder 13, Are the Culina Grips on a square butt frame? I thought 586-3's were square butt.
