Thanks to the members here who have discussed and endured their problems. I've been lurking for about a month and read the posts and gained the knowledge about getting a later serial number before taking the plunge. Saturday I bought my BG380 and even benefitted by my patience by paying $350 for it. I've never owned anything but HK products, but this filled a niche they have long neglected. Anyway, I immediately put 50 rounds through it to INITIALLY prove it doesn't have the trigger/TDP problems earlier runs had, and plan on putting several hundred more before prime carry begins.

Observations:

1. Serial is EAE9xxx.
2. Left side button is effectively inop- I am ware of the "fix".
3. Snappy little SOB. The grip end really smacks the knuckle of
my thumb. Anyone else have that issue? I'm gonna need gloves to continue to break it in.
4. Even with the S&W sale, Gander still had one for $579 which I found comical.

Thanks again for the insights....

B.

Congrat's on your purchase! I hope it serves you well.

My EAA has been great, I must have been lucky.

The laser buttons are finicky, although after I replaced mine they work as advertised. Good for training, iron sights are very good for acutal use. Try the fix, if that doesn't help get some new (free) buttons from S&W.

I don't have any problems with the recoil biting my thumb, find the BG more comfortable than my LCP. What ammo are you using? I'm using Blazer 95gr for range duty and have had no issues. I do have pretty large hands, might be a difference.

Did SW send new buttons, or did you have to send the BG380 in? If it's the latter, I'll try the "fix" first.

I used the same range ammo- I bought Hornady Critical Defense to carry, but didn't try any yet- any problems with hollow points?

I plan on carrying the HK's primarily, but summer time presents challenges for those. The BG380 should be cool then..

Yes S&W sent me new buttons - I had accidentally popped one out when using a pancake holster and lost it. I just sent them an email and a week or so later they sent me 2 in the mail.

I've been using Winchester Silvertip JHP's both at the range and as the load for carry - no problem at all with cycling the JHP's. I was concerned that they would be problematic since my LCP often had issues with JHP's but nope the BG eat em up.

The BG is nice for summer carry for sure. I have a few other options as well but it's so easy to put the BG in your pocket that I find myself making up excuses not to carry my other handguns as much.

I just picked one up today.Seems to have the button issue with the right side laser button being almost inoperable. I refuse to "fix" a new gun that has never been even fired!
Unless I get some refunded beta tester fee this gun is back to get a refund.Good luck everyone.

I understand your frustration with a new in the box item not doing all it should.

That being said, returning it for a laser button that isn't functioning up to snuff is a little over the top IMHO.

Pull the button out, check to make sure the nub is centered, re-install the button. You may have to rotate it around a few times to find the sweet spot but that should work and takes all of a minute to do.

Option 2 is request a new set of buttons from S&W, which they will send you for free.

I"ve fired about 500 rounds of hardball and a box of Hornady Critical Defense ammo and have not had a single problem. I wish all of my guns were as reliable. Mine is in the EAB serial # range.

If the only complaint is a button for the laser, I'm even more interested in getting one. That is, if I can ever find one in real life to even fondle...

My Dad has had my Kel-Tec P3AT so long I may as well let him keep it, and the BG looked good to me from the start, so it's the likely replacement.

One question I have is exactly how comparable is it in size to a P3AT or LCP? A pic would be nice, especially since there hasn't been one in the thread yet!

Finally got my new EAB to the range today.....100 rounds of Winchester white thru it with out any problem. Very first mag at 7 yards, all 6 rounds in the red. I'm not too crazy about the laser operation, not sure how much I'll use it. Might try a little white paint on the front sight to help pick it up when at the range. For a 390.00 pocket or BUG, I am very pleased.

Love my BG!

This is my third 380. P3-AT was the first. Hurts like the dickens to fire. Good for about 5 rounds before it jams. Sent it to KT...10 weeks later it came back. Not much better. Very finicky on the ammo it wants. Second buy was a Diamondback DB380. Much easier to fire, but still finicky on ammo. Had to send it back for trigger reset problem. Got it back in a jiffy and seems to work better, but not perfect.

Then came the BG380 (EAA99XX)...the perfect gun in every respect. It fires EVERYTHING. Had 2 FTF's in 50rnds of crappy Russian ammo, but just pulled the trigger again and BANG.

Laser buttons were stiff, but I just rotated them 180 degrees and they work perfectly.

Finally, a mouse-gun with a positive safety, last rnd hold-open, and an integrated laser that blinks too.

Unlike the KT, you can shoot it all day comfortably. Now if I can just get it to make coffee....

Update: My EAE has 200 rounds through it and everything is as tight on it as the day I bought it. I did do the ballpoint pen tube fix- worked flawlessly.
