I recently got a new .380 Bodyguard. Straight from the box I ran a dry swab down the barrel and proceeded to shoot 200rnds out of it to check reliability.

The only malfunction was one bullet didn't fire. I pulled the trigger again and it fired.

The trigger pull wasn't bad and the laser button was easy to operate.

The best part....I read on hear where someone was shooting steel using the laser at 40yrds. I set up a steel pepper popper and began at 50yrds. I hit the popper 6 out of 6 shots. I backed up to 70 and hit it 5 out of 6 shots. To make sure it wasn't luck, I passed it on to a fellow range officer and he duplicated it.

Ammo I tried was 95grain FMJ Winchester white box, 95 grain Remington FMJ, Speer Gold dot, Winchester Supreme Elite, and Cor-bon JHP. The best grouping bullet was Speer Gold Dot and Winchester white box.

I plan on carrying the Gold Dot, but hoping to get my hands on the Cor-bon (barnes) .380.

I hope my review helps some of the negative ones out there.

Went out today and put another 150 rounds with no malfunctions.

good to hear that it'll eat just about anything. At this shooting rate, you'll be ready for a new barrel by xmas time. ;)

:)

I was just wanting to check function and hope for no failure. I read too many bad reviews and believe these are good guns. I just hope more have the same experience I had.

Just bought a BG 380 too!

I like the pistol too, but my iron sights are off to the right a hair. I've tried to tap 'em over with some pretty strong taps using a plastic stylus, but they won't budge. I even got out the steel pin tap and wrapped the end in teflon tape, and I still couldn't move 'em. I quit before I damaged the sights - the enemy of good is better! Anybody have any advice - other than take it to a gunsmith?

You sound like you know how to shoot but before you spend any money, have another good shot give it at try. If he is on then you may have to look at getting used to the long trigger squeeze. Other wise, aim a little left. :) If you have a nice tight pattern and it is still wide right save a target, document the distance and send it back with the target. Make them sight it in again for you. They will send you a free shipping label. Good luck. We don't hear many stories of the sights being off, usually its just the opposite, everyone raves about being right on the money, out of the box.

Mine at 5yds & 7yds is dead eye....15 it opens up. I tend to group to the left due to the longer trigger pull. I've got ~300 rnds through it with no problems.

I got mine back from Smith and Wesson's repair shop I sent it in for light
primer strikes it started to miss fire the firing pin just didn't hit the primer hard enough and guess what it still is not fixed,I am going to get rid of this pain in the butt and buy me an LC9.

Yeah, I was only shooting @ 5 - 7 yds. I like the pistol. The trigger pull is different, but it is tolerable. I will do as Copnomore suggested and put some more time in. I was shooting good groupings, and I could get the laser sight dialed in without any trouble, but maybe I'm pulling it right when I squeeze. I only fired 50 rounds so far, so I'll keep on shooting and see what's up.
Thanks all!

Krma, something you might try in order to help isolate a trigger squeeze problem would be to get someone to load a mag for you but have him/her insert a snap cap somewhere in the middle of the rounds, no peeking. When you get to the snap cap, the gun will fail to fire and you will see if you are anticipating recoil or anything else.

Well, 400 rounds and the laser quit working. I checked batteries and they were fine.

I tried to call Insight and they said to call Smith and Wesson. (Manual reads, Insight is responsible for laser). I called S & W and was on hold for 15 minutes after pushing buttons and listening to automated answering service.

I'm gonna try to call them back tomorrow.

S&W said, they would take care of me and send a new laser. They are sending an envelope for me to send it to them in.
