New Bodyguard shows more than test firing?

Ordered and received a new Bodyguard and I don't think it is new. Marks on the mag followers are not an issue I understand that is part of QC. I let pictures illustrate and ask for your opinions. Note, I have never fired this 'new' gun. Perhaps I'm too picky, please comment.

That is what they look like new. Brass marks and dirty barrel. They don't clean them before they ship them. I don't see anything in your pics that looks different from any other NIB from Smith on these pistols.

same here. looks like test firing marks from the factory and not cleaned. pretty standard fare

That is how mine looked brand new.

Yes, I think you are too picky. Clean it and shoot it. BTW, all new guns should be cleaned before their first trip to the range.

Thanks everyone for the comments. This is only the second S&W I have ordered and the first one didn't look anywhere this "tested". My other pistols have all shown signs of test firing and needing minimal cleaning before use but this one was more than I expected. For some reason though, I just have a bad feeling about this one...

I got a NIB 617 not too long ago
I have never fired it
If I tried to sell it as unfired, I would certainly be called a liar
Since I bought it to shoot I'm not too bothered by it

Just a follow up, I showed the pistol to a few friends and they think it was used as a range gun. The pictures don't really do it justice. Today I picked up an M&P Shield and it looked good, nothing compared to what this Bodyguard looks like. Never have receive a response from the vendor either. The plus side is that if it was, it's already broke in!

Put two or three boxes of ammo though it, and this concern will be moot.

Many years ago I purchased a model 4516-1. Those pistols were fairly new to the market at that time. I was a bit disappointed when I took it apart for an initial pre firing cleaning and inspection. The pistol was very dirty and showed signs of being fired quite a bit. I even asked the gun store guy if they had taken my gun to the range for a little "testing". He assured me that he had not and that sometimes Smith & Wesson guns would come in a bit smudged. The pistol cleaned up fine and has never skipped a beat in over twenty five years. I have purchased many other S&W firearms over the years and all the others have been clean when received. I have always figured that the 4516 must have had some sort of problem causing the need for a little extra test firing.

Way too picky....
Guns have to be assembled , taken down, parts fitted and adjusted , reassembled and monkeyed with until all parts mate and hand operate. Then they must fired to test functioning . And then proof fired.
The gun looks new , clean it, lube it and go shooting !
It's a tool don't worry about wear.

It may have been test fired several times....might be nothing. Mine looked much better when it was new.
If you have some problems with it,then it may be that that particular pistol is a lemon, and the factory monkeyed around with it until it worked. thats why it looks a little more worn than other new ones. my 2 cents.
