New bodyguard

Well I just picked up my new bodyguard .380. I have to say that I love it. It is very comfortable to carry and shoots great. The only major complaint is the sights. I wish that they were just a little bit more visible. What has everyone else done to resolve this issue?

Actually, for a pocket pistol, the BG380's sights are the best of the bunch, just look down an LCP. You can always apply some tiny drops of nail polish for a quicker sight picture. Here's an example....

I think there are a few lemmons out there still but there's many thousands with zero issues. Mine's kink free after hundreds of rounds with not a single failure of any kind. I can't say that about any of my pistols.

My wife has about 100 rounds thru her BG380 and no issues. Seems that there were problems with the earlier models with respect to broken firing pins and laser mount screws backing out. Many folks don't care for the heavy trigger pull but she has no problem with it.

No problem with mine, lots of shots fired out of all 3 mags.

I would have rather had the one that the LA people use. It has no safety (It’s not needed with the long trigger pull).

If offered I would have got one without the laser as IMNSHO it is waste of money. That gun is designed to be pulled and shot fast in a s.h.t.f. situation. IF used by most people it will be fired in a very bad situation without having the time to hit that laser button, more than likely at Halitosis distance. It is basically a last resort weapon. If you know you are definitely going in harm’s way a much bigger/powerful weapon should be present.

Not to go off topic but...

I originally bought a Kahr CW9 as my CCW. But now that I live in the south where it's shorts, t-shirts and sandals 10-11 months of the year, that "cannon" is no match to the ease of which my wife can conceal her BG380 and I my Ruger LCP. We simply figure we'll need to be accurate. As far as the laser, my wife likes the idea of a BG on our property at night seeing that thing targeting him. If he doesn't run, he soon won't be able to. She's damned good...

I love my Bodyguard 380.One of the first things I did as was suggested to me by the gun store was apply a small drop of Loctite Blue on the laser screws so they don't back out.200 rounds later they have not backed out.I don't mind the sights on mine since I really don't consider it a range gun.Mostly for close quarter self defense.

Mine has been very reliable through hundreds of rounds, BUT the firing pin did break recently. SW fixed it, but this is not an uncommon problem. I would have gladly paid $5 more for the gun with a steel firing pin instead of that "injection-molded" pin they use. It's a design flaw they won't admit to.

I put a XS Big Dot Tritium on the front, (the rear sight with this set is a straight 8 style with just a painted vertical stripe in the middle with no tritium on the rear sight). I am currently trying to find a rear tritium night sight for the rear of the slide. Wished S&W made a factory set of night sights like Sig does for the "Sig-lite" sight set on the P-238. Off subject, you may want to check on the "Mag-Guts" brand magazine upgrade. It is a new set of springs, follower, and floor plate that allows your current stock S&W magazine body to convert to 7 rounds without changing the size of the stock magazine body.

yes,I plan on getting a couple of sets of the Mag Guts 7 round conversion.What ever you do,do not buy the 10 round ProMag for the BG 380.It's a piece of junk which I took back.
