As a repeat offender of Heffron Precision, 6 trigger jobs thus far, I can truthfully say that the last couple of times I had triggers done, it took 2-3 WEEKS. The cost is about $240. You send your hammer and trigger to him. He works his magic. You reassemble your Colt. Done. Done. And done.

For what do you need spare parts? It’s a new Colt, not an old Chevy.

Calling the laminates stocks that come on a new Colt, plywood,
is on the same level as calling Carbon Fiber, plastic.

I’m going to address WINDAGE adjustment on the Colt rear sight that so many people seem to have fits about.
It’s different.
It is, from what I’ve heard, prone to loosening up on its own.
Enter Loc-Tite.
Zero your new Colt. Add a droplet of Loc-Tite, on that rear blade (which is what I do to those loose S&W rear sights also) and you have saved about $100 that you were told was necessary because you need a Wilson rear sight.
And I like Wilson rear sights. I have some. They’re a luxury item, not a necessity.

Well they all shot beautifully. 4 very different 357s is cool to shoot.

The Python had the best double action by a lot. The 19-2 had the best single, 27-2 didn't stand out.

Recoil on the Python and 686 were similar.

The double action trigger of the Colt Python has always been its biggest selling point. Even with the old ones, the average S&W had a better single action trigger than the average Python, but the double action pull of the Python was better than that of the S&W.

Just going by what I read on his web site

I guess that doesn't apply to the component trigger job. I did reach out and request a component trigger job. Haven't heard back yet.

Interesting. They used to have a better warranty than one year. This would discourage many buyers including me. But reading comments on the forum S&W is a thing of the past when it comes to new purchases. Unless you need a bluing job.

pull and fire his 8” Python was fun to watch.
I also watched Magnum Force recently
Where Eastwood target shoots his S&W model 29 against a Python. Great double action shooting with both pistols.

For me, I found nothing wrong with the factory sights. That said, I did change to the Wilson Combat front and rear mainly because I have a hard time seeing the red ramp front sight. The Python make is very easy to change the sights.

I’ve got an old one and a new one. The newer one is every bit the gun the other one is. I bought the first 2020 I saw, and with a GI Joe discount and opening a card I never used it was $1250.

The rear sight has never bothered me, so it is on there now. The grips were ok, but I wanted the Python cheese grater experience so these aftermarket jobbies fill the bill.



People are gonna complain about something, no matter what it is. I’d rather go shooting.

My only complaint.

I plan on getting some good stocks for mine but just haven't decided which yet.

And they call that plywood rosewood or walnut or whatever. Makes me sick. I have always detested laminates for anything others than a structural member or an arch or stem or something.
Plywood. Yes, plywood.

I have the 2.5" and it came with solid wood grips, presumably Altamont I guess, but my 3" and 4.25" are cheap plywood and I just don't think I should have to pay another ~$250+ for correct grips on a gun this pricey imo. The Altamonts do fit perfect, but are flat, cheap, ugly and just plain suck.

My son gave me the same gun for my birthday 2 years ago. I am going to replace the sights with Wilson’s. I have rubber Pachmar’s on it as they give me a little extra reach to the trigger.

I also have a set of wood grips from an older colt that fit and I have a set of Anaconda wood grips that fit but have a gap at the back on each side.

I use a Galco Combat Master holster for it.
