Dicks opened a new store in Austin this morning, NOT IMPRESSED, same crap that Sports Authority, Academy has, NO handguns, No reloading, some ammo, could not see what all they had, its locked up behind counter in cabinets, half dozen people asked for ammo, clerk would set it on counter, customers said no thanks, clerk put it back, could not tell what the prices were, but must have been high, A Sportsman Warehouse just closed, so based on what I saw will give Dicks 2 years tops before the doors close

Gunsmith,

That title, without any capitalization or possessive case, sure got my attention:p.

Thanks for the title edit, Lee. I apologize for my teasing response to the OP...should have just let it go...(my sense of humor has gotten me in more trouble than I can tell you).

See you Wednesday. Have a safe trip.

We had a Dick's open here in town...actually took over the old Gart Brothers place. I called and asked if they carried primer flipping trays, and was told yes, they have them. Drove across town to get it. When I arrived, asked for the person I talked to on the phone. He then informed me they only carry them during reloading season! He could not, would not, tell me when that season starts. Never went back.
Went to the Sportsman's Warehouse today, pitiful, just plain pitiful. About 20 hand guns, mostly the same models of Glock, Xd-40's and some Berretta. Had not a single round of ammo for any of the handguns they sold. Someone had just bought a XD-45. After filling out the paper work and getting everything done the clerk asked if there was anything else. The new owner stated he needed a couple of boxes of ammo for it. The clerk suggested if he needed it now he should try some of the shops in Denver (50+ miles away), or he could order some, although not sure how long that would take.
They also had empty cans of powder lining the shelf..all types...but no full cans of any powder. The clerk informed me that ALL powder manufacturers are only selling all their powder to make ammuntion and that none will be available for probably 1 to 2 years!
I always thought that most powder available to reloaders was different than those used in commercial ammunition.
Luckily time flies at another local gunshop, was able to get the powder I need there. He has more coming in in the next two weeks.
