New FDE 2.0 range report

Took my new M&P 2.0 FDE 5" barrel model to the range on Saturday. Love it! The difference in recoil between a full size 9mm and my Shield is fantastic.

Shot qty 4 17 round mags of Remington UMC to start, no ammo issues. After first few shots getting used to the trigger pull and recoil, I was able to start making a big hole in center target at 5, 7 and 10 feet. Switched ammo to Winchester USA Forged steel case and shot about 40 rounds - had one failure to feed, but still hitting center of target. Next ammo up was Winchester USA brass case in a 100 pack- shot about 50 rounds - had one misfire, but accuracy was still good. Switch to Blazer Brass and had no issues. All bullets were 115grain.

Overall I am thrilled with my purchase of this gun. The trigger is very smooth and it shoots very accurately. Much easier to shoot this full size than the Shield. Looking forward to S&W releasing a M2.0 Compact model!

I'm supposed to pickup my 2.0 today and will let everyone know what I think of it vs the older models. My main EDC is a OLD M&P 9c and that isn't changing anytime soon.

Used my M2.0 at handgun class Saturday- put approximately 500 rounds through it with zero malfunctions. (Sellior & Bellot 115gr)

Both instructors shot it and said it was great improvement over the model 1 M&P.

Only issue I experienced was accidentally engaging the manual safety when drawing or holstering. The safety detents could be a bit deeper. I may end up removing the manual safety as recommended here on the SW forum.

The best thing to do with the safety is remove it.

Ironically, it is the manual safety that has me interested in these S&W's. I pocket carry, and won't own a Glock because it has no manual safety. S&W has manual safeties as an option, so I'm looking closer at their guns. Don't know if I'll get one. I'd like a compact in .357 SIG and that's a stumbling block as S&W does not chamber it.

I got mine today. While dry firing I notice there's a grittiness to the trigger right before the break. I'm assuming this is when the trigger bar engages the striker block since it only does it with the slide forward and locked.

This should easily be resolved once I polish all my internals.

The next thing I noticed is the reset is not that pronounced but after multiple cycles it got better. I think the reset is a bit disguised by the grittiness of the striker block engagement so the polishing should improve both.

I put about 100 rounds through my FDE 2.0 and the grittiness in the trigger pull went away.

Trigger reset much better and overall better trigger were the main things
