Nice gun

I think you did very well on this one. Congrats!

Thanks, I agree with the "this day and age" considering that she cost nearly $110 brand new back then, lol but for what's out there, the price was very good. Seems to me that the prices are a bit high in my area for ALL handguns lately. Last one I saw about 4 months ago, was way too much for what it was so I walked away. This time while discussing a purchase price and it came to that number, my wife actually nudged me with the go ahead, lol. That was funny.

Everyone should have a Model 10. That looks real nice for a 40 year old example. I hope it shoots well for you.

Thanks again all. It does have a little holster wear just hard to see in the pictures. I am looking forward to shoot it though. Action is nice and tight. I thought about having it re-blued but changed my mind. Nothing wrong with the way it is.

I seem to have gravitated to revolvers on this day. Just something about them screams "look at me" every time I walked buy one. Of course there is always the occasional rude person who thinks theirs is made of gold and they are the know all and be all of revolvers. I don't claim to know too much but enough to know he was just trying to get every penny he could and then some. Funny how he was real friendly at first until he figured out that I was not buying then he just turned down right rude.

THIS IS UNDOUBTEDLY THE FINEST WORKHORSE DEVELOPED BY S&W. I CUT MY TEETH ON ONE WORKING FOR DOD YEARS AGO. I LOVE THE SIGHTS. CONGRATULATIONS!

You got a beautiful Model 10 for a smoking good price so shoot it and enjoy it.

I paid $90 more than you for this one and I thought I got a great deal.

Very nice indeed. Looks like the finish on your 10 is much nicer than mine so the price probably reflected it. I have acquired Smiths from new to old but the Wheel Guns have always been my favorites.

BTW, I shoot them all. No Safe Queens in my home.

M&P .40
1953 Pre Model 10
1973/74 Model 10
M&P .22
M&P Shield 9mm
Glock 17 Gen3
1973 Browning Hi-Power
1973 TTC Tokarev, 7.62 x 25

They all get a fair amount of Range time. I think I will be on the lookout for a 686 next

The half moon front sight machined into a ramp was only done for a short time('52 and '53 I believe). This option shows up in the 1952 catalog. By later in 1953 or so, the ramp became the standard. Another forum member had sent me a photo of the catalog page listing the ramping of the half moon.

Interesting because my 53 Pre 10 has the half moon, and my recent one from 1973 / 74 has the one mentioned. Very cool information.
