Welcome aboard. That's not much info to go on but it sounds like you have a .38 Special Hand Ejector M&P (Military and Police) that dates to around 1942 give or take a year. If you are really interested in learning more about the gun I suggest you spend a little time browsing the forums and then post pics and details of your gun in the forum "S&W Hand Ejectors: 1896 to 1961."
